YOUR MEMORIES: Farmer's School in reader's minds

Debbie (Ramsay) Bucchianeri of Atkinson, N.H., saw the 1965 photograph of the Farmer's School that first ran on Feb. 20 when her father clipped the photo and showed it to her.

"He knew it had to be my class, but didn't recognize me," Bucchianeri said.

She was able to recall the names of most of the students. Here is who she remembers:

Top row: Unknown male, Sean McCracken, Peter Brown, Deb Ramsay, Cynthia Kirby, Melissa Patenaude and David Sadler.

Third row: Andrea Guyot, Carl Bradshaw, Deb Stevenson, Joan Rotenberg, Ginny Borden and Donna Cripple.

Second row: James Johansen, Doug Cronin (possibly), Tim (unknown last name), Julie Gardner, Karen O'Brien, unknown male, Carolee Arnold and Linda Rooney.

Front row: Unknown male, Diane Fuller, Laura Wayne, Cherry Bliss, Diann Balsar, Elaine Barette, Lynne Martelli, Wendy (unknown last name), Liz Gibb and unknown male.

In addition to remembering the names of some of her classmates, Bucchianeri also recalls many fond memories of the school like her first day of first grade, the scent of the room, the way the desks were arranged and more.

"We had the same rounded, yet very loving, teacher for first and third grade - Miss Piguet who I believe was also the principal," she said. This class had Mrs. Lundgren for second grade, who Bucchianeri says was a good teacher, but much more strict.

She remembers that one of her duties was to get the milk, which was served in glass bottles, for lunch. Also, that the reading groups were given the names of birds.

"I can remember how hard it was to get our fourth grade assignments at Willett and see that we would be separated from the friends we had been in school with for three years," she said.

Tracy (Best) Grilli of Londonderry, N.H., said her father, Bob Best of Norton, sent her a clipping of the Farmers School photo to see if she recognized anyone. She wasn't in either class; she says she was between these years, but she did recognize Melissa Patenaude in the top row, Laura Lee Wayne, third from left in the bottom row, and Joanie Rotenberg, third from the right, third row from bottom.
